Easy Finish for Ornaments in the JBC Printed Panel

Fabric Cutting for Your Ornaments

• Square your ornament from the Printed Panel to 5” x 5”.
• I found it easier to cut a strip 1” by Width of Fat Quarter (WOF) and cut the strips to size after sewing to each ornament.
• Cut matching ornament backs and thin quilt batting: 6” x 6”.

 Assembling Your Ornaments

• Sew 1” strip (from the long strip) to each side of ornament.
• Trim strips to match the ornament sides and press seam toward outside.
• Sew 1” strips to top and bottom of ornament using the remainder of the long WOF strip.
• Trim strips to match the ornament edges and press seam toward outside.
• Baste a matching piece of thin quilt batting to the ornament back.
• With right sides together, sew a matching (6” x 6”) back to the ornament.
• Sew around all sides with a scant ¼” seam allowance leaving an opening on bottom to turn right side out.
• Turn right side out and press seams.  Then hand stitch the opening to finish.
• REPEAT for all 16 ornaments with any print from your Fat Quarter Stack!

Add a Hanger for Your Ornaments

• I like the natural shade of Jute to make my very simple ornament hangers.
• Cut 8” pieces and tie an overhand knot in each end of the Jute.
• I attached with a couple stitches of Red Perle Cotton over the knot.
• You are most welcome and encouraged to “invent” your own special way to show off your ornaments on your tree!
