These small bobbins were once used to wind cotton thread or yarn on in mills in the Northeastern part of the United States. The bobbins came in a variety of sizes this being one of the smallest. The worsted yarns starts on much larger bobbins and progresses down to this small 4 1/2" bobbin. The steel cap reduces the snagging of yarn as it is drawn off the bobbin.
These bobbins were well used with a dark rich patina and show scoring on the bobbin barrels caused by knives cutting off the leftover yarn.....a sign of an authentic vintage bobbin!
Perfect to use as a display holding your small Needlework Projects.....both Embroidery and Quilting.
