These beautiful wooden bobbins were used in the Bates Mill in Lewiston, Maine, to hold cotton thread they used to weave their famous Bates bedspreads.   The grooves in one end of the wooden bobbin helped hold the cotton threads as they wound onto the bobbin.  The brass cap reduces the snagging of thread as it is drawn off the bobbin.

These bobbins were well used with a rich patina and show scoring on the bobbin barrels caused by knives cutting off the leftover yarn.....a sign of an authentic vintage bobbin!

Perfect to display your small Needlework Projects.....both Embroidery and Quilting.
