I'm really a quilter at heart but love emb also. We are in the midst of remodeling and all my fab, sewing machines, etc are in storage. Need to have SOME fab in my hands so now working on the Here Comes Santa patterns. Made long skinny w/h last year for Christmas but nothing for me. Isn't that the way it goes. Now I see NEW Santa stuff. What's a girl to do? Find the redwork so calming in the midst of the organized (?) chaos.

Julie,  I know just what you're talking about.  I too am a quilter but need to keep hands busy.  I love red work but also do brown and black.  I've found ways to combine hand enbroidery and quilting.  We have the best of both worlds don't we?  It keeps us sane.  Gayle

I agree with you, Julie.  And, Gayle- Brown and black stitching, too?  A whole new area to explore...great idea, thank you for sharing!

If you like wool applique....have you tried the new wool theads from Aurifil...they are to die for!   They are 12 wt - equal to 2 strands of DMC.   I used them on a large banner I made for Christmas....very very nice!
